Today: Reflecting on this Historical Presidential Election
Before anything, I’m a black woman! Today, I’m so very proud to be one!
A few days ago a black woman was elected Vice President of the United States of America. The very first female Vice-President. The very first African-American Vice President. And, the very first person of South Asian descent to hold that office.
My heart is full as I complete another commercial project and marvel on what this means. This is a very profound moment for myself, millions of black women, and women across the country. Especially those who are paving their own way in life.
On the day the election was called, the presidential results gave me hope for the change that I so desperately want to see in this world.
Today, it has also put fire underneath my ass to work even harder. I, one day, want to design the residence suites of the White House, and let me tell y’all! Once my mind is made up nothing can stop me. I’m not sure when this dream will come to pass, but mark my word.
I may not change the world in the normal sense, but I can definitely help the political people enjoy the space that they’re in. They deserve a place where they can come into a loving and relaxed environment to recharge for the next day’s battle.
2020, as we can all agree, has been a tough one. The pandemic, the target on black lives, and this election has taken its toll. Today, my hope and faith has been renewed.
