Finding My Front Line: A Personal Reflection

During the height of the Black Lives Matter movement, I found myself grappling with a profound question: How can I contribute to the fight for justice? Where do I fit into the front lines? The weight of the moment was overwhelming, and the decision to voice my thoughts felt both crucial and daunting. I couldn’t stay silent—it was too significant not to engage.

With friends, we chose to participate in a protest for George Floyd, but it quickly became clear that I needed to find my own way to contribute meaningfully. My anxiety was at an all-time high, and I was searching for how I could best support the cause. Shortly thereafter, I was honored with the opportunity to design George Floyd’s daughter’s room. This project transformed my design perspective, turning design into something deeply impactful and personal.

When I revealed the room, it struck me that this is my front line. My role is to create small sanctuaries of peace in my clients' homes and businesses. Whether through designing a calming space or orchestrating a spectacular event, my goal is to offer a brief respite from the challenges of the outside world. This is how I fight the good fight—by serving those who are on the front lines, and I am proud to do so.

To my readers, I encourage you to please take care of yourself during these unprecedented times. Celebrate all your victories, however small they may seem. Make your home a sanctuary, whether you own or rent. If you ever need assistance in making your space a haven or planning a memorable event, know that I am here to help.

Thank you for reading this personal reflection. I felt a strong pull to share my journey and my commitment to my community during these unprecedented times.
